Structural Value
2.5 Outcome ValuesBoundaries are basically about providing structure, and structure is essential in building anything that thrives
What is structural value?
Definition
A tangible or intangible asset that if applied in operations will result in other outcome values
Structural value is the creation of information or assets that can be used to create other forms of outcome value. Or in other words, it is a potential for “real” value.
An outcome of an initiative can be a new and improved process, a design, a method, a lessons learned summary or any other practical or intellectual knowledge. A design has value once utilised in production (operations) to produce a sellable product (customer value). But the design itself can be sold and thereby be transformed to financial value.
Everything done in an organisation produces structural value, the potential for other outcome values. But not everything is worth turning into information or assets, an thus the organisation must define what structural value to invest in and produce.
