Purpose

The purpose of the Design process is to assess the impact of the new asset, design and draft the asset, prepare plans and decide to commit to the asset.

    • Need to establish new capability
    • Need for clarification of discipline
    • Audit non-conformities
    • Other clarification needs
    • Decision to explore creation of asset

    Output

    • Approved asset documentation
    • Communication plan
    • High level implementation plan

    1. Assess Impact

    • Asses impact on current asset architecture
    • Assess impact on related assets and dependencies
    • Assess communication needs
    • Assess implementation needs
    • Document findings as a communication and implementation plan

      2. Assess Potential

      • Assess potential outcome values
      • Assess expected effort and resource needs
      • Document findings as a business case

        3. Draft Plans

        • Draft communication plans
        • Draft high level implementation plan
        • Anchor plans with key stakeholders

            4. Decide to Commit

            • Distribute asset draft, communication plan and implementation plan to relevant stakeholders
            • Adjust documents as needed
            • Decide to formalise asset by formal role/forum
            • Decide to approve communication plan by formal role/forum
            • Decide to approve implementation plan by formal role/forum
