Method Introduction

4.1 Method Overview

A method is more important than a discovery, since the right method will lead to new and even more important discoveries

What is…

Definition

A systematic way of doing something, involving a series of steps or a strategy used to accomplish a specific task or solve a problem

Purpose

To provide a clear, repeatable process that can lead to a desired outcome efficiently and effectively

Turning theory into outcome value

Theory is information, and as defined in the information layer: Information provides clarity. But it does not produce any outcome values by itself. Information needs to be out into operations and executed upon to provide outcome value.

This is where the method comes into play. The theory establishes a common foundation and language on which we effectively can collaborate and build the organisation upon.

The method in its whole is built upon four parts, where Asset Management and the Asset Lifecycle defines the practical how-to:

The Core Theory

The foundation and relations is established by the core theory. This provides a common language that we then can base everything on.

The Asset Theory (Asset Architecture)

As we open up the CUBE®, we find all the organisations assets and the relationships between them. The Asset Architecture provides a format for how to organise all assets.

The Asset Theory (Asset Structure)

Each individual asset is defined by a document structure that defines with increasing specificity, the details around why, what, how, who and when for that specific asset or practice.

Asset Management (Asset Lifecycle)

The process and activities for how do identify, design, communicate, implement, improve and decommission an asset is defined in the Asset Lifecycle Process.
