Definition
An essential practice that without, the whole would be compromised
Purpose
Ensure the focus, consistency and resiliance of the whole organisation
A cornerstone is an essential practice that permeates all layers of the organisation. All the cornerstone practices must be embedded in all practices and assets within the organisation.
All organisations should work to incorporate these practices in everything that they do. It not only brings value to the organisation in the forms of competitiveness, resilience, economic sustainability and social sustainability, it also ensures that the stakeholders needs are met.
All stakeholders expects that these disciplines are in place to some extent. The expectation for the ambition level for each practice can of course differ. But most stakeholders, if asked, would not accept that the organisation ignores any of the Cornerstones.
